Following a great annual meeting, our upcoming August virtual forum is one not to miss.  By request of DoD leadership, Dr. Venkat “Mani” Manivannan from the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) CTO office will lead a conversation on how our industry and academic members can be more fully engaged with the DoD technology ecosystems and funding opportunities.

Dr. Manivannan is the Advanced Technology (Digital) Lead for the Digital Group (NDG) of Naval Air Systems Command CTO HQ.  His role includes identifying the spectrum of digital technologies relevant to the Navy and DOD through seamless coordination and partnership with industry, academia, and national labs. Specifically, his functional responsibilities include developing robust technology assessments, roadmaps, investment strategies, and portfolio developments of products that provide capabilities and benefit the warfighter.  He helps in the strategic and tactical vision of acquiring and implementing high potential emerging digital technologies. He is managing acquisition, research and development efforts, worth more than $75M, utilizing a variety of internal and funding sources.

Dr. Mani has led innovation and has been successful in transitioning basic and applied research and development (R&D) towards product development and commercialization. His work has contributed to more than 100 invention disclosures resulting in more than 40 US, European and World patents, along with numerous publications and presentations.
